21? 23? Does it matter?
21 to save 21 seconds over 112 miles- or 23 to save your A$$ over 112 miles- I choose the latter.
I happily run a 22…

race is only 20 K long…
For me, it depends on road surface. If very smooth I’m ok with a 19mm. If rough stone chip, I prefer a 23mm Pro Race 2 or Pro Race 3 as it’s more comfortable and seems to roll better. If unsure what the road surface is like I’d go with a 23.
I thought the preferred width was a 19/20 for an H3. I just put some 20mm on mine an they are just a hair wide. Search for “a 19 or at most a 20” for a post by joshatzipp.
I run 19’s and 20’s with my everyday training bike with HED3’s. I don’t need to worry about comfort, even over long distance, so I run the fastest tire I can. Since I ride Zipp beam bikes, tire comfort has nothing to do with the equation.
I guess I’m on the same boat - - a Softride… race ready this unit is 24.2 pounds…
