Hed 3 Tubulars - What do you use and/or recommend?

I was wondering what tubular Brand/Model you are using for racing and maybe some training as well.

Vittoria Evo’s. I like the smooth/non tread versions. For racing only. I am too much of a cheapskate to train on $50 to $100 tires.

Of course as soon I get a renn clincher I will stop using tubulars. :slight_smile:

Some people like Veloflex a lot, too, no personal experience.

I’ve used some Continental and Tufos and thought they wore better and lasted longer but I would rather go faster on a race wheel. It’s a compromise. If you were to have multiple sets of tubulars with training wheels and race wheels, perhaps Continental/Tufos would be suitable for the training/backup wheels.

So that’s Three for Vittoria and One each for Veloflex, Conti, Tufo; the latter two being suggested more for training.

I use Conti Comps on mine. 19mm. I was advised by Hed that this size (or up to 21mm I think) was the best fit to minimise separation of air flow between the tyre and rim.

TO be honest haven’t tried anything else therefore I am not qualified to be an equipment freak and tell you one’s better than the other. Have the same tyre on the 3D disc as well.
