So I’ve got something in my wheel that “slides” around inside the wheel as I spin it. Is this something I should concern myself with?
had something similar … then one day it just stopped - probably loose carbon or metal shavings in the rim - had this problem with Mavic all the time
Thanks Gary - I was thinking the same. Anyone else?
assuming this is a new wheel its probably a loose alloy burr created when they drill the hole for the valve. I had that problem when I got my new H3. But it will come out of the valve hole so just hold the hole-side down and shake and jiggle.
Thanks John, that makes sense.
I felt really dumb when I had the same problem in 2 of my HED3’s. Then I noticed the pattern to the rattle and it was the open valve stem clicking as the wheels turned! Closed the valve and no more ticking!
I’m in MN and picked up a few HED wheels at their site. They drill a hole into the rim for the valve. Most of the shavings fly up through the bit, but some get into the wheel.
I heard the same slight noise in my wheels so I shook my wheel for a while (without the tire on) and eventually got a few TINY shavings of aluminum rim out of the wheel.
No more noise. Hope this helps.
