Looking at a used set of Hed 3’s. Seller says he is running a 9 speed on them, I need to run 10. Any way to know if the hub is 10 speed compatible without dragging my bike over there? I don’t know the year.

Yes. Shimano 9/10 freehubs are intercompatible across the board. Just make sure you have the shim on the 10 speed.

The free hub body is shimano 9/10 speed compatible. I have a trispokes set from the specialized days and have run the Campy conversion hubs from Wheels manufacturing with no problems as well.
