Heart rate watch with alarm to stay in zone 2

I’m looking for a running/biking watch that I can connect to HR chest monitor and it will signal me (audible beep) at the top and bottom of a heart rate range? And, Preferably I can set the ranges. My eyes can’t read a small digital number in sunlight while running. Thanks

I think any Polar can do that. My old ones allowed multiple zones.

I believe also that any of the newer Garmin s will do this also.

I know my 920xt does that. I setup workouts in my HR zone and I get a buzz and a tone when I am above or below. It is really annoying at the start until I get into my zone but great for long runs.

Thanks - I will read up on the reviews and ask Santa for Christmas! I just discovered Slowtwich and I’m impressed already.

I think all of the ANT+ compatible Garmin watches will do that.
It might be worth looking for one that also vibrates. It can be easy to miss a beep or a buzz while running if it’s not terribly loud or conversely you might find it very annoying rather than just informative. A vibration alert is better in my opinion and can usually be used in combination with the audio if preferred.
The 910XT and 920XT triathlon watches both do this. I’m sure there are cheaper running specific options that do it too.

I think any Polar can do that. My old ones allowed multiple zones.

I bought a Polar Protrainer XT in 1997 and it could do this.

Our term is Sport Zones. You can customize your hr values per zone and lock in a zone on the fly while training or program it as a Target. PM if you have any questions

I use the Polar V800. Great watch that allows you to lock into your specific zones or sport zones.

Great watch to inform Santa about

Ask for a lactate test for xmas too. Then get your VT/LT1 number and the heart rate that roughly correlates to that and set that as your alarm and keep most of your training below that. . Merry Christmas

I’ve found that most audible alarms on heart rate monitors are terible. Above or below your alarm an annoying fast beeping sounds which are annoying to me and I won’t use the feature around others out of respect to them. I hate it when someone near me uses such an alarm near me.

THE BEST audible heart rate monitor alarm that I’ve used was in a cheap $50 heart rate monitor from Nashbar about 16 years ago. Think it was called “Nashbar HRM-2”. The great thing about it was, the alarm was so discreet. It would only notify you every 10 seconds and give you time to adjust your effort. If you were under your zone it would let out a single beep, if you were over it would let out a quick double beep. I would do entire workouts without ever looking at the display. If it was quiet, I was right where I wanted to be. Single beep meant speed up. Double beep meant slow down. Either way the notifications weren’t constant or annoying.

I miss that watch, I lost it while moving years ago and wish there was a modern watch with that specific feature.
