Heart PVC

I’ve read all the previous posts on anything to do with this and A-Fib. Very helpful and set my mind at ease, however, I didn’t see anything that fully resembled my symptoms so I am posting

Training for first ironman 16-20 hours per week (although I have had issues at 6-8 hours of training) / experienced triathlete / moderately stressed and I assume what I have is PVC. I don’t have an elevated heart rate so I am sure not A-fib.

I will be fine for a few months (more frequent with ironman training) and then at the end of a workout, usually during a cool down, and without warning, my heart will tighten up. It’s a very scary feeling for about 3-4 seconds. Following this, I will have 3-4 days of palpitations. I also feel short of breath, dizzy and fatigue until i fades and I feel back to normal. iThis is about the 4th time I have experienced this and the worst so far. Will go to doctor next week, but has anyone else had same sypmtoms?

Get to the doc!!!

Dave

There is no way to tell without an EKG. A-fib isn’t always fast, just when it is uncontrolled A-fib. You could be describing ten different heart arrythmias. You don’t know until someone hooks you up and looks. I am assuming you would probably need to undergo a stress test or possibly a cath to replicate the symptoms. Don’t mess with it. You definetly have something going on.

yea def get to a doc for a 12 lead ekg…maybe even a stress test…having one or two pvcs wont make u dizzy usually but 4 or more in a row might and then its not pvcs any more its ventricular tachycardia…and thats real bad

That is scary for you, I’m sure. I work with Electrophysiologists and speak with patients that have arrhythmias everyday. My advice is that you see an EP or cardiologist before your next workout, especially because this last episode was the worst. Its silly to speculate what type of arrhythmia it may be, or if it is really an arrhythmia, without a 12 lead EKG while the symptoms are occurring. Since you have the symptoms post workout, they will probably have you do a stress test and see what your heart does. If they cant recreate the issue they might give you a Holter Monitor. Its basically a device that will look at your EKG away from the office that you will have to wear. Regardless of what I’m telling you, I’m not a doctor, I would get in soon. Not something to mess around with. Good luck.
