A good friend who has run 52 Marathon’s, is looking for a cardiologist’s who is more in tuned with runners, triathletes, etc. in the New York City area. He was told by his cardiologist’s to stop running!
Help!

That might be the prudent thing to do. Or he might be able to safely continue running. Depends on his condition and the opinion of the cardios.
I have had two cardiac events; a clogged coronary artery in 11/06 that necessitated a stent and open heart surgery last year to replace my aorta. Various cardiologists’ responses have ranged from “I recommend that you take up brisk walking” to my current cardiologist who cleared me today to do my first half Iron on April 5, which will be 1 year and 1 day after my open heart surgery.

I’m assuming he has already received a second or third opinion (cardiologists, no apostrophe). He can probably shop around until he finds one who will say it is ok to continue. But, is that wise?
He may have a defect that no amount of fitness will overcome. Think Jim Fixx.
Thanks for the replies, but I am looking for a doctor I the NYC area.
