Headset question...what does compatibility Campagnolo mean?

Hi all…so im buying a new headset…but with some i see Campagnolo compatible…whats that got to do with anything if a headset goes into a head tube and it doesnt matter what groupset is used??? i dont get it??? surely the only thing you have to look out for is the diameter of the headtube where the headset fits in…in my case 41mm with 45 degrees bearings needed…can anyone enlighten me???

sorry, still dont get it…for example…some new FSA headsets, integrated ones say they’re Campagnolo compatible…

There are essentially 3 headset standards-

1)The Campy standard in which the bearing contacts at a 45/45d angle. This usu uses a larger bearing and is popular in Europe and the BMX community.
2)The Cane Creek standard in which the bearings contact at a 36/45 which is poular in North America.
3)The TH/FSA standard which uses contacts at a 36/36 angle.

From a tech standpoint, they all work well. It just depends on frame design, what the local market is comfortable w/ and what the frame designer is comfortable with. It just makes it confusing to the consumer!

Did you read the link I posted?

The Campagnolo hiddenset refers to a specific headset standard developed by Campagnolo, and different from the Cane Creek standard (s).

Regardless of who manufactures the headset itself, if the headset conforms to this standard, it is referred to as a Campagnolo hiddenset style headset.
