I’m going to guess you meant “fun” rather than “funny.”
I was hit and seriously injured by a teenage driver who was more into her conversation than her driving and, since I can’t run, and since I love to race time trials (and there are very few of them around my area), I race a lot of tri relays. I’ve done everything from sprints to iron-distance. That’s another thing I love … being able to do long TTs of 56 and 112 miles. There really aren’t many opportunities to do anything like that here in the States outside of a tri relay.
But above all, they are fun (or funny … sometimes ;-).
I love the vibe of triathlons a lot more than that around bike races. Hard to put it into words. It’s just a different vibe. I think at bike races, people are more about projecting how much pain they’re going to inflict on each other whereas at tris, there’s more of a “fellowship of pain” thing that makes everyone more fun to be around. And if you’re just doing a relay, you can share in a little of that pain without biting off the whole enchilada.
I liked the experience… Sure I repeat!
