Has anyone heard of this "cambietta" bike unit?

My buddy Frankie is the spokesperson for it and I keep bugging him for one.

What do you think of it?

I don’t get it. This thing adds an additional 3 gizmos to your bike and takes up more handlebar real estate? For an extra 170 bucks you can get the Cervo Pro from powertap. It takes the place of your current cycle computer and heart rate monitor that you probably don’t want anymore anyway, it has the ability to do intervals, the screen is customizable, and it’s hard wired which is not prone to interference. Of course it’s all downloadable to powertap software or cycling peaks, which is the best software out there. That means only 1 thing taking up space on your bars with the potential to break or not function right instead of potentially 3 (hr monitor, bike computer AND cambiatta). Plus, if you are a data geek, eventually you’ll want to go to power anyway and the Cervo Pro is upgradeable to full Powertap Pro functionality with a wheel and new wire kit.

It’s a nice price point, but when you consider you still need a bike computer and heart rate monitor, it doesn’t make sense to me.

Looks a little big and I’m not sure if it will appeal to (I’ll leave that to the markets). The cost looks good and if on a budget may make sense. Not convinced but an alternative …

I’ll agree that there are probably better more intergrated pieces of eqipment out there. But if you are one of those of us that are on a really tight budget this might be a great product. Over the course of getting into this sport I bought a bike computer, then a while later a heart rate moniter. I would like to go to power or gps or something else cool. I can’t afford it. This is definetly a little more in my price range. Also from reading the website I would say that triathletes and competitive cyclist are not the only market they are aiming for. There is a huge amount of people who cycle at a much lower level of commitment then we do. Recreational roadies, people who enjoy bicycle touring, bicycle commuters. I believe this device and the information it provides is more than adequate for the average person engaged in those activities. And I think being able to keep the present computer, hr moniter will appeal more to those groups than us as we tend to be gadget heads.

That said I probably won’t buy one. It is still out of my budget.
