I was talking specifically about buying the RW issue, if D’Kid doesn’t (huge Harry fan; she saw 1D twice, including her first ever show at MSG*, and has tix to Harry also at MSG)
I already own some Murakami
*My mistake - 5 Seconds of Summer was MSG; 1D was at The Linc
There once was a band called One Direction; they were pretty big a decade ago, or so. Harry Styles was one of them - and the first to leave for a solo career, I believe?
Sub-3 marathon at Berlin, so he’s legit quick, too
No. It’s a capitalist enterprise selling the idea of counter-culture, for a pretty penny. At least Hot Topic is affordable and you don’t have to worry that much about chafing if you’re just wearing it to be seen - I wonder how much of Satisfy’s product is worn for more than a couple of miles without ending up feeling like a horribly expensive mistake.
I live in the trail and ultra space, and have seen damn near everything - from a lad running a snowy winter trail race in workbooks through a guy who swears his cotton Iron Maiden tshirt with the sleeves torn off is the ultimate 100mi wear, through my own obnoxiously bright coloured skirts (I frequently turn up at start lines looking like - in my own words - unicorn barf) and dressing up like Boba Fett or Deadpool to run anywhere from 50k to 72hrs.
I go long enough that I need to be sure my kit actually works, and I can craft my own aesthetic (or lack thereof) by selecting pieces and DIYing what I can’t find. I have no problem with buying some cool designs (check out Death March Run Co for some gear that speaks to me as a punk), but they better not be overpriced - she says having just paid $200 CAD after shipping and border fees for a pair of Mammut shorts, which is still way less than a pair of Satisfy shorts - and they better not try to sell me on some kind of bullshit like a moth-eaten cotton shirt.
Not that I have any strong feelings about this or anything
Theres no reason for me to buy ANYTHING from Satisfy. I did enjoy their online magazine, but since they stopped posting it (after I’d read just about everything, and made a few of the recipes, besides), I really have no more use for them
My thriftiness vis á vis gear is well-documented: Target & thrift stores mostly, although I found a pair of asics shorts which I doubled/tripled up on
“CBGB’s bathroom, plus neon!!!”
“Have you ever been there?”
“No, but I’ve seen pictures”
“Then you’d also know that the it’s ‘CBGB’ NOT ‘CBGB’s’”
“Does it matter?”
“Also … the bathroom at Max’s Kansas City, was far worse; from both a graffiti standpoint, as well as WTF went on in there”
