Hardest climbs in the world

There are some absolutely brutal climbs in there. Having done one of the French ones, I can’t imagine how brutal the others are. 9km at over 17pct is nuts.

Francois, can you screen capture the link and paste it in here (some of us can’t see it). Where does Mauna Kea fit into this?

For that number one climb, have you been on it? I can’t imagine cars being able to drive down without burning out brakes !!!

GCN has a video of that monster

It is not great road surfaces either!

Never seen it before. But it must be brutal. And yes on going down in a car.

@anon54729914 where to Galibier (north side) , Stelvio (north side), tourmalet (not sure which side is harder), Ventoux (from Bedouin) fit into the ranking.

Do they make top 50 or top 100?,

Tour Das Hugel is a great (and free) ride every November in Austin, TX. 11,500 ft of elevation gain and 110 mile distance. The many steep climbs aren’t overly long but grueling. This combined with the distance will make for an early bedtime.

Alto de la Muerte in Ecuador is almost the same as Mauna Kea, just about 50 m less of altitude.

There is also a not well known climb outside Caracas, Venezuela that’s like 12 km at 14% up a mountain subdivision. Unfortunately, from what I have heard from some Venezuelans, not in a great area of the world at the moment to go riding these days unless you want to get mugged, a__ raped or murdered.
