I frequently get these hard bumps on the front of my calf especially after harder days of training or racing. Sometimes they are pretty painful but it seems like there is nothing I can do to get rid of them. They are also only on my left leg, never the right.
How hard are the bumps? I get bumps on my lower legs when I’m training alot. But they are fairly soft…maybe even a bit squishy. Are your bumps bone-hard?
They are not on the shin bone. They are on the muscle 2 inches to the outside of the shin bone. They vary from kinda hard to really hard, but not like a calcium build-up or bone. They are definitely made of soft tissue, but it’s very hard.
I was showing some people at work today, and one other guy who does some running had them as well. They aren’t really visible on me, but you could see his. However, you can definitely feel them.
I THINK they are from signs of compartment syndrome, but not exactly sure. They aren’t too painful, but they definitely can be sore from time to time.
I have had similar for many, MANY years. I would have them check by your doctor. My doctor told me that they were tears in the layer above the muscle, similar to a hernia. He never suggested treatment for mine and I have had them for…oh boy…over 17 years and I don’t know how many miles
