Hair issue (on topic -- for chicks and guys with long hair)

I got my hair cut (and highlighted – but that’s not relevant here) last weekend. I told her to cut it as short as possible while maintaining my ability to put it all back in a pony tail. The cut looks great (again, not relevant), but wouldn’t you know it, there are all these random layered hairs flying around that don’t fit back in the pony tail. I need some hair product that will keep these guys in line. When I run, I usually just hair spray the hell out of it, but I’m concerned that won’t be enough when I yank off my swim cap at this weekend’s race. Any suggestions?

i go with the small flat hair clips to hold the flying bits back. not much of an issue on the bike as you can stuff it under the helmet, but if you don’t want to wear a hat on the run.

i’m not quite sure what hairdressers hear when we say ‘i need to put it into a pony tail’ :\

Do the Sinead O’Connor look! Or, I could show you pictures of my cat.

My girlfriend uses a jar of blue stuff that says Bed Hed (?) She doesn’t seem to have any problems and I think it’s easy to find. Smells like a Pina colada. Can’t tell you what it tastes like.

I sometimes joke with my hubby about the bald option; it would cut my morning routine time by at least half. However . . . . among the many reasons I wouldn’t do it include the fact that I think I have a funny shaped head because hats just never seem to fit me right:)

Thanks for all the responses!

Bed Head is good, but it’s ridiculously expensive at ~$17 for a 2 oz jar. The knock-off versions are around $6 and work just as well. I use either pomade or the taffy/putty/wax. I call them spackle because once you put it in your hair, it does not move.

As you enter T1 and T2 blow nose in hand wipe quickly throguh hair, It’s cheap, biodegradable, unsented but like clorine it may turn your hair green

Snot in the hair and pee in the wetsuit – god I love this sport; it so . . . . real?

I need a haircut. Mines highlighted (not that that matters.) I’ve got my first tri of the year coming up this week, and I’ve been debateing how to show it off, it looks great (but thats not relevant here.)

My plan. Yank off the swim cap, run really, really fast. Pour a little water on it. Bike really, really fast. Then forget your troubles while you puke on the run. After that, you won’t care what people think of your hair.

Go natural, it’s the best.

I just pull the shorter strands around the face into their own separate group and pull them up and band them on the top of my head. Works with the swim cap and helmet.

clm

that’s very samurai of you

Is it long enough to put them into two low pony tails on either side of the back of your head? A friend of mine does that b/c her hair is not long enough for one in the back…

If you can braid really well you could try a french braid on either side (adding very little hair every time) and use hairspray to fix them - it won’t come lose, that I know. However, the looks might resemble an 8-year old at soccer practice and you really need to be good at braiding (or have someone else do it for you)…

With either of these options there is that look vs practicality trade-off…

We need pictures to give you the appropriate solution. Pictures!!! I tell ya, we need pictures!!!

No but seriously, have you considered a bobby pin or two?

Women’s soccer players use pre-wrap and roll it and use it as a band to hold the hair back. It’s what you would use below athletic tape when you tape an ankle. It’s cheap and available at Walgreen’s. Check out this pic :

Note : I didn’t go to Fordham and don’t know her, just looked on the net real quick and that’s what I found.

i dont’ like hair products since i sweat a lot, and it just runs down into my eyes. :stuck_out_tongue:

i like to wear a visor on the run.
