Had to make a new Zipp 2001 brake cover

I’ve had my 2001 for almost a decade now, and it never had the front carbon fiber cover. (it did have the rear though) It wasn’t much of a problem because I quickly upgraded to tririgs when they became available, but now that the 2001 is more wall art than something I ride in anger, I figured it was time to start “restoring” it.
First thing, make a new brake cover

Original on the left.

not 100% perfect but came out really nice for some redneck in his garage.

That’s pretty fantastic!

Can you give some details of the steps you went through? Gotta love some DIY carbon fiber!!

having the rear one already helped. I used it as a buck (with some foam backing) and my homemade vacuum former to make a mold out of a sheet of polystyrene, then just layed up 3 layers of carbon and put some vacuum to it. After that it was just careful cutting with the dremel and a lot of sanding/finishing.
