Had a good ride and now it burns when I pee

So I had a good bike ride on Saturday morning (60miles lasting about 3hours), and when I got home I about cried when I took a pee. I’m not a sailor and I don’t have trust issues with my wife, so I ruled out the clap. I thought maybe I had a urinary infection, so I when to the urgent care on Sunday. The doc said my urine didn’t test positive for a urinary tract infection, but I likely aggravated my prostate during the ride. She prescribed an antiobiotic (cipro) and something (pyridium) to help with the pain while pissing. This was my first ride after getting FISTed last week, so I’m thinking something with the new position likely had an effect. Maybe there’s a T-Shirt slogan in this (“I got FISTed and all I got was this lousy pain in my dick when I pee”).

Has anyone had this experience? Was it a one time thing or did it reoccur?
Any suggestions for saddle adjustment (angle it up, down, etc…)?
Is the fix a new saddle? I ride the Fizik Arione Tri 2.

My vitals: 32 y/o, 138lbs, riding about 100-125 /week on both road and tri bike.

Thanks.
Mike

I thought this was about a cheap hooker.

Sorry, can’t help you with the bike thing, but if you ever do have cheap hooker problems just send me a PM.

60 miles in 3 hours that’s your problem, you are to slow !!!

just kidding, tip your saddle nose down a little, did you have any numbness in your noodle at anytime during the ride?

.

Have you been paying attention to who your bike has been with?

I’ve actually had it happen before. It went away pretty quickly and only recurs rarely, so my theory was that the meatus (the opening) got irritated somehow. I’d say if it doesn’t go away, though, prostatitis and other problems may be at play, so I’d give it 24-48 hours and if it’s not improved, see a doc.

I’m not a doctor, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and I would suggest turning the Fizik into a lawn dart. You are one of the chosen who owns man bits which cannot take the pressure…like mine can’t. Cobb or Adamo ain’t a bad place to start, especially Cobb with 180 day full money back returns.

I saw the doc after 24 hours of pain, and after taking the medications for another 24 hours, the pain has pretty much gone away. Is this doing any damage if it recurs?

With the pain I experienced while peeing, I wish my johnson was numb.

Probably not, but if it does recur I’d go back. And if it does recur, I’d ditch the Arione. Cobb is a good place to start for a new saddle.

i wouldn’t worry about it, i use to ride 250 miles a week, i am 48 and the unit works fine
.

I would have thought you would have somewhere else after getting FISTed. Possibly you’re doing it wrong.

Takes me about 4 hours to do my 60 mile ride, so what is slower than slow?

.

I experienced similar issues with the Fizik Arione Tri 2. I switched to a Cobb saddle which totally eliminated the issue. As others have said, ditch the Fizik.

Could it be a kidney stone?

Think about your bike shorts too. I’ve had this problem twice; both times were after long rides with the same pair of bib shorts. I have no idea what makes them different than the rest, but I’m not going to wear them again to find out.

Could it be a kidney stone?

Trust me, if it is a stone, he will definitley know it as in he will be laying in a ditch somewhere crying like a baby.

OP - I have had that occur a few times while training for marathons, so not certain it is saddle related. Might be more of an issue with the head rubbing for 3 hours against your bike shorts. I rode 62 this weekend and now have a blister on my left nut. Just thought your would like to know you are not alone in the pain catagory.

Been there, mine was caused by the first long ride with a new pair of shorts. The pain faded after 24 hours. Never wore those shorts again, no pain. The next step was going to be a Cobb/ISM purchase, but better shorts solved that problem.

Since you are taking pyridium I can’t wait for the follow up post.

Happened to me during my first IM. I’m pretty sure it was due to needing to go pee on the bike but not doing it, the pee dried up inside and caused me to not drink enough. So dehydrated with crap in my system combined with the bouncing of the bike etc. Made for a terrible run and the next few days were not much fun. Pain every time.

Did you drink enough? Either way the doctor told me it does happen just from the impact from the bike. That was a few years ago, it has not happened again.

Doing my second IM this weekend. This time I will pee early and often.

I never considered the shorts being a factor. I was riding in the DeSoto Riviera Forzas which I’ve used about a dozen times this summer with no complaints about comfort or fit (other than the stitching coming undone around the chamois). It’s unfortunate that I might have to change out my saddle; the Fizik feels quite comfy.

Those of you who say that this has happened to you, and you don’t worry about, you are obviously more hardcore about pain than I am. I don’t mind suffering through workouts, but learning to deal with this pain is not something I’m willing to do.

Oh, yeah man…thankfully, I was warned about the bright orange piss.
