So does anyone else have the problem of the three main phillips screws that hold a Speedplay cleat to the shoe seizing up and refusing to come out no matter what the hell you do? Last time I used liquid wrench for 7 days and they finally budged. This time the Hacksaw is coming out… Cut off the cleat and use big vise-grips to take out the screws after that.
Is it only me???
Yes I grease the screws and that’s the only solution I can think of.
I just got new shoes after about 6 or 7 years. I had no trouble removing the Speedplay cleats. You might try cutting a deeper groove in the screws with a Dremel tool and then use a straight screwdriver. If you want to try it and don’t have a Dremel tool give me a call.
Hey Larry, yeah I guess I could use the dremel but the hacksaw is pretty quick. It’s just that I hate the fact that they get stuck in the first place. Not bad when you are replacing the cleats but I’m trying to move Candes’s old cleats to new shoes… I’m just buying new cleats, I give up;)
