I'm struck by the GWB that operated as president in say the last six months of his time in office. It just looked classy, from the incredible transition to his LACK of excessive use of pardon power to the issues that he championed. Maybe it's just the starting to move away from the position that does it, and maybe Obama will begin to look much more average (even Bush-like!) as he settles into the position. Regardless of what people think of GWB, he probably gained a few points in the rundown.
Do you agree that these were good issues to champion in his final days?

he was humbled once he recognized what we all already knew - that the Mission Accomplished banner was his biggest blunder

Man I didn’t even have a problem with that. If a president can’t give his troops a high five for a successful invasion what CAN he do?
He can give them a mission based on a purpose that doesn’t change weekly, isn’t made up, or that they don’t have to needlessly die for. I know, I know, he was classy.

I’m not saying it was wise to send them on that mission.
But they sure did invade iraq and depose saddamn swiftly and effectively
=)
I couldn’t find any follow-up, did all that dismantling really happen?

I don’t know ![]()
If Bush acted like that for the first 7.9 years, it would have made all the difference in the world.
I remember saying years ago that he should apologize for some of his rhetoric (Mission Accomplished, Dead of Alive, American justice etc.) and he did, a few years late but I do give him credit.
I miss him already ![]()
