Gutsy Performance at Florida 70.3

Hats off to Lauren Goss, winner of the F18-24 AG in Orlando (last amateur race for her!).

She was on track for a 23+ mph bike split and a top 5 overall when she crashed at mile 16. She didn’t give quitting much thought, but McGyvered her bike together and finished the bike course bleeding in 2:34. Then she runs her way to a 4:48 overall finish time, 13th overall female. One tough chick.

Very cool. Love hearing about people picking up the pieces and continuing onward.

That’s a damned fine bike split even without the dramatics.

Was she running in a sling? I recall seeing someone with their arm wrapped up on the run. Puzzled me at the time

I spoke to her on the phone post-race and she didn’t mention a sling. I think it was mostly road rash and maybe a banged up knee.

If you looked at the results on the main page, you would not know that two AG females were in the mix with the pro females:

Melisa Lemus (W30-34) at 4:43

and

Lauren Goss (W18-24) at 4:48
.

Is she the cute chick thats pretty knocked kneed…not an insult by any means…just trying to confirm…shes super quick. good for her!

She’s very cute, I’ll say that! (And Fast)

She’s indeed very cute. Haven’t noticed the knock-kneed thing, but I may have been focused elsewhere.

That is really impressive.
