The intel could’ve come from anywhere. Hence why you can’t place blame on the FBI for what little we know right now.

Legit kidnappings for ransom - not cartel related kidnappings - are vanishingly rare. I never worked one during my dick days. I worked several parental kindapping cases - totally different crime that is investigated differently (broadly speaking).
FBI knows their shit when it comes to cases like this. The cases are so rare that very few agencies have much experience.
As much as the FBI deserves shit for their politicization at the upper levels, the agents and field offices working cases are very, very good.
I’m curious as to what led to the identification of the “person of interest.” I haven’t been following the case closely beyond regular news updates.
Let’s not discount cartel involvement here. Probably not likely but given the proximity to the border, cartel’s love of ransom kidnappings, a wealthy celebrity family member… it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility.
