First race on the new rig is done. The night before the race I figured I would be uber cool and put on an aero drink system…with no real time to install my Speedfill I opted for the Xlab Aero bottle. The Crono 2.0/CR901 with the Hed Jet disc and an H3 tubular front. If anything else…the bike looked fast. After running the first 2 miles I got onto the bike and with in the first mile hit a bump that launched my bottle. Now its an 18 mile bike followed by a 5 mile run…in Texas mind you. Its freaking hot! So I stopped, turned around, picked it back up. Scared it would happen again I start being more careful over the bumps. Some where half way through it happened again…ARG!!! Carrots are nice, but never taste as good the 2nd time around!!! I was never passed and always passing. No computer on my bike yet as I am waiting on a Quarq to come in that is not for a customer already. Finishing up in the parking lot I miss the turn into transition (no cones, you are just supposed to know I guess) and have to make a quick loop in the parking lot. The fastest time was 46.51 set by one of my team mates. My time was 48.07. I could easily think of how much time my bottle dropping cost me and missing the turn, but that is just racing. We all have issues, your best day is the day where everything goes right and that’s what makes it so sweet! I had the 4th fastest split of the day. I am happy with that with my first race back in quite some time and only on the bike for 2 weeks. Bottom line, the new bike is amazing, smooth and fast…and it fits like a glove!

Try training next time…maybe you won’t have to come up with so many excuses!
Seriously, nice job out there! That’s a sweet looking ride!
