Guess what Chris Carmichael never saw anything

Is this the most bizarre statement you have ever heard , his involvement for almost 20 yrs with LA and he puts out a f$#%€d up statement like that .
Nutrition and the correct training programs are what he focused on .

and it isn’t like Lance is the only one naming him

.

I wonder if anyone brings this up at the Gran Fondo I’m riding tomorrow, in which he’s a Team Leader.

I’m guessing . . . No.

It’s ok to believe Lance now? Just this one time?

Rode with GH this morning and we saw Chris within 50m, walking up the street. Looked like he hadn’t been sleeping much…

So I’m guessing you’re in Yountville?

Can we just consolidate everything cycling and doping and then try and move on. I feel like the sport is screwed (and the sport itself can hold a lot of the blame), I just kinda have the feeling now it’s like, when does it stop. They are a bunch of crooks, and I guess we’ll get another press release in 10 days or 2 weeks where another issue has come out. We need like a come to jesus moment, where we admit all their sins, and then we can make peace with it all. It’s like 1 foot forward, 1 foot back, 1 good story, 1 doping story, rinse and repeat.

Carmichael, to borrow a term that may be somewhat un-PC, is a beard. He was never the true “brains” behind the operation, that honor went to Ferrari and possibly Max Testa for a short while. Carmichael is the red herring that throws people off the doping trails, and nothing else.

Actually, there are other things about him. a) he profited greatly from Armstrong, and b) he doped up teenagers and basically settled out of court to keep his “good name.” real upstanding character

to be fair, the doping of juniors was precedent set by the USAC and the 1984 games. This goes much, much deeper than Carmichael.

In addition to being a beard, he’s probably going to be a patsy.

But as always people like Carmichael continue to profit from people who believe he’s squeaky clean .
Yes to moving on but when people such as Hincapie, Wiesel ,Ochowicz continue to avoid consequences and it’s deemed acceptable its difficult to move on .

Carmichael is a douche…in 1999, he approached the company I was working for to be the “official” bike of Carmichael Training Systems.

HS whole spiel was “Lance, Lance, Lance.” I finally looked at him and asked (even though I knew the answer) “So Lance will be riding our bikes?” CC blinks eyes. “Well…uh…no. He is under contract to Trek.”

“So why are we talking about him?” blank stare

I then asked him if his clients would use our bikes…“well, not necessarily. If they want a new bike, I guess they might buy yours.”

“So what possible reason would I want to be your official bike if you can’t show me how doing so will grow my sales?” * blank stare*

Fookin’ snake oil salesman. I hope his entire business goes down the crapper.

If someone is telling you something you want to hear: believe every word they say. If someone is telling you something you don’t want to hear: they’re lying, especially when they’re telling the truth.

I agree, all this stuff almost leaves me with a feeling of, “should I care” or when can I have hope? They are a bunch of cheating bastards, and I guess the only thing I should hope for is that our sport doesn’t go down like that. But then again it’s like, well with the lack of testing in our sport, will we have these same issues? Obviously not as much team related because of the individuality of the sport, but just sorta leaves you almost numb or maybe worried is a better word. Do we as a sport have the structure to handle a doping scandal like cycling had and push back immediately?

Within the blast radius.

you doing the BGF tomorrow?

Have fun tomorrow. I’m so insanely jealous. I really wanted to do that ride.

Yeah, can’t pass up anything I can ride to/from. I’ll be with George’s group wearing an all black kit, red vest, on a Felt AR2.

that’s a hoot. I’m commuting by bike too.

I’ll be in the black/white Calistoga Bikeshop kit . . . leading a team.

x2.

I’m intrigued to understand the moral character of hincapie’s fanbois who name drop and wear his name on their jerseys. With one word they’re saying, “I self-identify with a convicted doper who for decades pretended to be honorable and clean, profited immensely while knowing his team leader was destroying careers and lives, and now just wants to put it all behind him like he was an innocent bystander. I find these traits so admirable that I want my name associated with his.”

I get the whole “people are complex and george is more than just his bad deeds” schtick, but I don’t get the public celebration and promotion of the guy. If he wants to go be an accountant somewhere, I won’t lobby the state accounting board to deny his license because of his cycling misdeeds.

But I will continue to criticize his involvement in sport, and question the character of those who celebrate his presence here.

What team number? I’ll look for you to say hello. I live at the other end of NV in Browns Valley

I’m guessing . . . No.

Why would they? It’s not like anyone’s saying anything to Levi, George and others that were all part of it. Everyone rags on Lance and then seems to look the other way and fall over the other guys. Bunch of hypocrits.
