A co-worker of mine will be in West Palm Beach for the weekend of June 20th. Any good group rides.
He rides around 20-22 MPH.
Saturday Group ride out of Boynton Beach Inlet starts around 7ish, usually a small group rolls out and then picks up people during the first 3-4 miles who are riding south from West Palm, Lake Worth to meet the group. Group size ranges from 25 - 60+ depending on time of year and local races going on…speed ranges too depending on who shows up that day. Its about a 30 mi ride, but a lot of people do at least another 1/2 loop easy. Speeds range from the 14mph warm-up to 30+ for extended periods depending who is there. All flat terrain (somewhat obvious in S. Florida). They don’t mind tri-bikes, but stay off the aerobars in the paceline.
There is a similar group on Sunday that rides the same route but starts farther south. Don’t have all the details as I rarely catch up with this group.
Fast Sunday ride up in Juno Beach (Marcinski Park (sp?) 20min north of WPB), leaves around 7am (depending on time of year, may be 7:30…I’ll check). Can be a big group of 70+ and very fast. Usually splits up and then regroups for the return trip…only to split again. Definitely a ‘roady’ ride, but guys occassionally bring out the TT bikes to play. Greg & Laura Bennett have shown up on this ride from time to time when in town…that is always a very fast day
Also, there is the tri-club ride on Sundays at 6:30am leaving from Running Sports in Juno Beach. 30-40mi at 19-22mph…gets faster sometimes, but they don’t like hammerheads as they are about the group and helping develop some of the newer people in the sport. Fun group though. They also have run/swim workouts over the weekend.
PM me if you want any further info.
Thanks. I will pass that along and if he has more ?'s I will post. He is a roadie, just old. He will probably like the Juno Ride. Maybe he can meet some girls.
