Just arrived in New Zealand today on a two week trip. Weather is 50/50 but I’ve just stumbled across one of the greatest lap pools I’ve ever encountered. Inside of Auckland harbor there’s these 3 seemingly public lanes. No idea if it’s clean or what the temp is, but wow.
Kona’s also up there. Beyond the race history, you can see the bottom at all times and lots of tropical fish, honu, and occasionally dolphins to spectate along the way.
For me it has been the lake at Zell am See. Swimming there was not only around my first 70.3 WC experience, but seeing countryside/mountains/town including the hotel was amazing…and an experience I hope to not forget for a long time!!
Go to Parnell Baths in Auckland. It’s a public saltwater pool, they have three 50-meter lanes blocked off from the rest of the pool. I went before 70.3 Worlds in December - had a lane to myself. Admission is cheap (although I did get the senior rate).
