Gray Aerodome

I’ve heard of Gray wheels, and it seems people typically like them.
So I was wondering if anybody had heard of their aero helmet, the aerodome, and any opinions of it?

It looks decent, it’s CPSC certified, and it’s pretty cheap.

Looks nice…love to see how it sits on a head…

Just bought one (new) off E-bay. Supposedly a prototype of some sort, but it had tags and stickers on it. I have not ridden with it yet, and it’s my first aero helmet, so there’s no good reason anyone should listen to my opinion, but . . . I like it. It’s very, very comfortable (more comfortable than my road helmets. Sitting on the trainer, it seems to fit nicely. Like the adjustable vents they have that seem to open and close with a minimal effort. Would love to see a removable visot option. But I think it’s a good looking helmet (or at least as good looking as a dorky tri-geek pointy helmet can be) at a nice price.

When you get a chance, could you please take a picture of you wearing the helmet - both a head on shot and a side profile? These two photo’s would be very helpful.

I am thinking about buying a Gray Aerodome. I am a little concerned about the universal size. I tried on a Giro Advantage 2 (Medium) and it fit very securely against the sides of my head, which would allow smooth airflow around the helmet. I am concerned that if the "one size fits all”, if too loose, will cause unnecessary turbulence. Do you know the circumference of your Head (if that is not too personal - mine is 59cm) and does the helmet fit snugly around the edges?

I would like to see pictures too.

Thanks,

I know this is an older thread but I was wondering if anybody has bought one of these since and how they compare to other helmets? particularly the sizing?
I would be right in the middle of a Medium and Large in Giro how would that compare to the Gray?
Anybody have pictures of the front and side profile while wearing?
Thanks!

I recently purchased the Gray Aerodome. I previously owned the Giro. Compared to the Giro, the Gray is much more comfortable. It has flexable ear flaps which make it easier to put on. The Giro’s often would crack(mine cracked the second time I used it) when putting on in a hurry(T1). The Gray has a rachette system that makes for a great fit. Overall a very nice helmet.

Thanks for the video. It was good to see the front and how the vents look.
How would you compare the fit to the Giro? What size were you in the Giro? How close are your ears to the flaps?
How much warmer is it with the smaller vents?

I was between sizes too. My head is just under 23" & I went with the Medium Giro. The Giro was very tight throughout(uncomfortably tight, especially around the ears). A large may have worked better, but I didn’t like the fragile ear flaps on the Advantage. The Gray is much more comfy all around. As far as being warm both helmets are about the same.
I know there are some good deals out there on the Advantage, but personally I would recommend the Gray.
Good luck,
Zeke

The helmets is great, the driver still needs some work…

Awesome, thanks for your help. I was going to work hard to find a TT2 but I think I will get this helmet instead. Thanks!

It looks like the new TT helmet by Scott is going with a similar design as Gray.

The Scott TT helmet reminds me of a mix between the Gray TT helmet and the Lazer Tardiz TT helmet.

Any more pics of this helmet… like a head on shot, etc? Pretty interested in this helmet based on comments here and the air vent slider seems like a nice feature as well.

Sweet, I was dead set on the Giro until I ran across this one… I’m going to join the Gray club. Purchased and should be here Wednesday and will be race tested Saturday.

Came across this thread and it looks like the Gray helmet is a rebadged/re-colored version of the Uvex aero TT helmet…they’re pretty much exactly the same. Flexible ears, adjustable vents, etc etc.

I’m 99% sure that the Scott is a rebadged lazer bullet. I’m racing in a bullet right now, killer helmet. light, easier to put on than a giro/bell and nicely made.
