So, I got my new USAT card in the mail. My address, my USAT number, but someone else’s name on the card. What the…? Anyone else ever have this happen. I’m going to try to contact USAT right now, I’ll let you know what happens.

yep - happened to me too. I contacted them and they will resend asap. I talked to my wife about this - she works with the Alumni Association here in town for the college - she said this happens all the time with membership organizations. Lots of members, not enough staff and things fall through the cracks. Its not just that this happens at USAT.

hmmm, I didn’t say it was ok. What I DID say, was that it happens at other organizations too. I am sure your company never lets anything fall through the cracks, right?

Wow! i hadn’t haerd that one but anyone who renewed in July of this year got a card and key fob with this year’s expiration date rather than next. I had to spend 10 minutes on the line waiting for USAT to explain it to the checkin girl at Ironman Louisville. Soon as I was doner another guy came, and then another. You’d think USAT would contract this out to a competatnt supplier.
I think USAT does contract the card production out.
I have had several squawks about getting a card in the mail in a timely fashion and with the correct information on it. Almost every time I go to a packet pick up some place I also over hear other folks complaining about this same topic. Considering that this organization is bringing in quite a bit of money and provides very little actual service to its members you would think that something as simple as producing a membership card would be something that they could do. If that was to happen where I work…we would have atty’s and compliance officers trying to figure out how it happened - and who to fire. While agree things can get confused, a “reunion comittee” has a slightly lesser budget than the USAT has. Really, that would be a simple “if” in any relational database or even easier match in Crystal. But, I have it from a good source that this would not be an issue in the future.
Happened to me too, they’re sending me a new one with my real name.
They sent me one that was already expired. =]
I emailed them with a pic and was promptly sent another card.

Got a pretty quick response from membership coordinator at USAT. Response as follows:
“Brad,
I apologize about the misprint on your membership card. We are aware of the problem, and have made corrections and also have ordered new membership cards.You should be seeing your new card shortly.”
Now what can I do with the old one…
The bigger problem I have with this is that our memebership is $39/year to cover a bunch of stuff. Now they have spent over 2.5% just of my annual dues in mailing me both a incorrect, then correct cards. That’s just a big waste of LOTS of $$$$$. I don’t mind getting the extra USAT sticker.
Actually RC, CU Alumni Assoc. has double the members that USAT has, so I would guess the budget is quite a bit bigger. More than a ‘reunion committee’ - there are 240k members, networks for jobs, travel groups and on and on. It’s one of the bigger Alumni groups in the US.
Also - got my re-issued card within 5-6 days of me contacting them.
Same thing happened to me: right address (obviously), wrong name. Then a week later a new one came in the mail, all correct information.
The only issue I have is, what good is it to me now? I signed up in June and am just getting it.
Not even a damn sticker.
I got two of them in the mail. The second one came the day after the first one.
