Did you see the T1 video? He gets on his bike and rides it out of transition, right by 2 guys running to the mount line. Looks like he’s having a good time.
I think he went behind the barricade too, sometimes you just gotta laugh.

That was epic, he needed another Gordon Ramsey on the side lines telling him he’s a idiot sandwich lol
he mounted the bike before the line… that is a dq no?
It is a DQ, unless you happen to be a celebrity that is participating and promoting triathlon. I’m not saying it’s right, but there are different rules for different people.

Wait, what? Celebrities get treated differently to other people? Shirley there must be some mistake…
Ah well, it’s good to see him enter an actual event that is not a championship and toe the start line. Unlike IMNZ or IM Wales where he talks big, makes lots of media mileage then doesn’t actually turn up.

There’s no mistake. And don’t call me Shirley.

Was he ever contemplating Taupo? I never heard that rumour?
About three times from what I understand. Admittedly was mostly in the UK press rather than worldwide, and it was before his big American media breakthrough
That’s interesting - thanks. Never made it into the media over here, which is surprising as a lot of our ‘news’ comes from the UK, and this would have been NEWS. Would be cool if he did come race IMNZ - but he’d have a field day ripping the eateries to bits in town!

promoting triathlon? sorry, I meant promoting triathlon? So when does all this triathlon promoting pay off
for us Johnny Lunchbucket types?
He should be feeling pretty fresh, almost 8 minute T1.
But I really do like the fact that one of the celebrity Kona slots went to a celebrity that turns out to really like triathlon. Most never do another race after their race at Kona. He seems to have gotten the bug.
He was a triathlete before he got his celebrity Kona slot. He wasn’t fast enough to get a slot on his race time, but at least he had raced in the past.
So how did he do?
5’50 finish.
42’ swim, 3’06 bike and 1’51 run.
I would take that.

Really? Which race? I was led to believe his first triathlon was 70.3 championship, which was also an invite event.

That’s not a terrible finish. Far better than Sean Astins 7:30ish 70.3 finish. I don’t mind a few celebrities competing at the Championship races because it makes for good press. At least Ramsey seems to respect and train for the distance even if he does pull a boner coming out of T1 whch I’m sure he’s well aware of by now and probably won’t happen again.
