Good Yoga DVD?

Hi There~

I am sure there is a thread open/closed on this somewhere but I thought I would have some time…does anyone know of some good DVDs for basic yoga. I want to incorporate some yoga into my fall/winter program and planned to do some at home as I have a new baby coming soon.

Any titles/feedback is greatly appreciated!

  1. Power Yoga: Flexibility (for beginners), and

  2. Yoga Conditioning for Athletes
    .

Brian Dorfman’s flexibility training DVD has a good time efficient yoga-like progression geared toward athletes. Google-able.

I second the Rodney Yee suggestion. He has a line of yoga DVDs. The one which I prefer is Power Yoga - Strength, Flexibility, and Stamina. It has three workouts, two of which are very doable for beginners and the other (strength) gives you something to build to. (Caveat: there is a version out with only two of the three workouts; try to get the one with all three.) I am not a big fan of the “For Athletes” DVD, as it seemed too easy. Search on Amazon, as tey have good selection and the user comments give good insight as to what is actually on the DVD and whether it is one you want.

After following my own advice and quickly browsing Amazon, it looks like the Brian Kest DVDs would be good ones as well.

His first appearance in Empire Strikes Back was kind of cool, but I liked when he was kicking ass in the Episode 3, but I do not think that is available on DVD yet.

I liked that he was teaming up with the Wookies.

David Swenson’s ashtanga DVDs are great. http://store.yahoo.com/yogavermont/dvd-002.html

Thanks Everyone for the GREAT suggestions!

I teacj yoga and use the Brian Kest cds for my own workouts.
