Does anyone know of a good restaurant in St. Joseph? Or near Stevensville?
I am getting in tomorrow night and will be looking for a pasta/salad healthy kind of place. If they have a good beer or wine that is great, too!!
Is everyone getting in Thursday or Friday?
I have to drive from the South Bend Airport - hope the roads and traffic are good?
If you are in the M35-39 AG I suggest Taco Bell, Mickey D’s and visiting the King (personal favorite of mine, but a friend of Austin79 - yep she knows the King). 3-4x per day please and you would probably want an extra breakfast sandwich race morning.
I have reservations at Spinackers. It is right in St. Joseph across from the Comfort Inn. I ate there before and it was pretty good. Decent seafood IIRC.
There’s a White Castle there as well. Or you could try carbo-loading on mashed potatoes at the KFC down the road.

Here are some suggestions and a website with directions: http://www.swmichigan.org/restaurants.htm
St. Joseph:
Schu’s Grill & Bar, 501 Pleasant Street - downtown St. Joe overlooking Lake Michigan - will probably be packed, but a great place and awesome owner (Larry Schuler)/people/food - my personal favorite. Contemporary menu and family atmosphere.
Clementine’s Too, 1235 Broad Street - casual family dining on the St. Joseph River - fun atmosphere.
Spinnakers, 105 Main Street - a little bit of everything, fun atmosphere.
Bistro on the Boulevard, 521 Lake Boulevard - Contemporary French Dining - outdoor dining available, overlooking Lake Michigan.
Chilis Grill & Bar
Pump House Grille, 214 State Street
Stevensville: **Tosi’s, 4337 Ridge Road ** - Northern Italian Cuisine/Fine Dining. GREAT FOOD and and atmosphere. One of my favorite SW Michgian restaurants and only minutes from St. Joseph off of Red Arrow Hwy. **Grand Mere Inn, Red Arrow Hwy. - **fine dining with a cozy atmosphere - good food and service. Santinello’s Restaurant & Pizzeria, 2262 West Glenlord Road - great Italian dining with other good menu choices for those that don’t want Italian. Nice family atmosphere.
You should have no problem with the roads from S.B. Airport. Now, for those of us coming in from IL, that’s another story! I’m hoping that after this weekend, my husband will want to move back to St. Joe.
- slim chance, but I can wish - as I consider Wheeling, IL a temporary exile.
I second the Clementine’s. Been to the South Haven one several times. Great food.
Clementines is my favorite in St. Joe. expect long long waits. it is busy even on normal nights. waited 45 minutes on a sunday night a couple weeks ago. all the restaraunts will be the same out here
No worries about traffic. There is none between South bend and here. Will be about a 40 minute drive from the airport.
i am cooking up show for a bunch of racers friday night. you are welcome to join in if you like.
Clementine’s and Tosi’s
.
Tosi’s is pricey but excellent. Might even be a decent choice since most people will not think of it.
good idea Jim.
here is the link to their site: http://www.tosis.com/frameset.htm
great spot for a group.
last time i was there…i think it was Al Capone’s ghost fading in and out of the dining room.
