What next? A research group at MIT is going to find evidence that water is wet?
Seems like there was a study or survey not long ago that suggested chicks dig not-built guys, you know the Johhny Depp type. I can’t keep changing my body like this.
I think that it had to do with what time of the month it was. Seriously.
I’m guessing the 2 of you are fairly clueless as to “what chicks dig” ![]()
.
That’s true. It’s always been a moot point, though, as whatever it is, I ain’t got it.
That old study lasttri mentioned was interesting, though. Assuming we’re talking about the same study, they found that women found different types of men attractive depending on what time of the menstrual cycle they were in. I can’t remember how it broke down specifically, but sometimes women found the pretty boy Johnny Depp type more attractive, and at other times in the month they favored the more rugged, Marlboro Man type. I think that study was limited to facial attractiveness, though, so maybe it’s not the same one lasttri is talking about.
A Top 5 list would help.
I’ll give you my list:
smart funny (even unintentionally counts) educated it helps to be Italian w/ green eyes athletic
.
Yes, Italian!
He and colleagues interviewed 99 male undergraduates about their sexual histories. Muscular men were twice as likely to have had more than three sex partners than less-built types.
Slackers.
smart (I get a 50% rating on this) funny (even unintentionally counts) (I specialize in unintentional) educated (BS & a Doctorate in the School of Hard Knocks) it helps to be Italian w/ green eyes (not Italian but I have the green eyes) athletic (aging triathlete)
I scored well on your criteria but I am also humble so I will go back to my corner now.
.
OK - a fine list and inspiring for all us aging, less than muscular types, but a question. The study was using college age students - so let us say a range of 18-24 year olds. Your list is typically what I hear more from older female friends - say in their 30s to 50s. So does what makes a man attractive change as women age? I think a case could be made that both sexes tend to get over the fascination with just the physical as they age, and realize there are other qualities that are more important in a partner.
Like any study, we need to look at the sample population. To extrapolate the choices made by college age girls to a more mature population may be a bit of a stretch.
Yours truly, a smart (as considered by my friends), funny (generally a good story teller and word smith), educated (graduate degrees in mathematical biology), Hazel eyed Italian working on becoming more athletic in triathlons
** So does what makes a man attractive change as women age? **
Yes, we get smarter through the years (most of us anyway). I’m not saying that physical attraction is no longer important, it is. However, it is not enough on its own. In past relationships I have found myself literally repulsed by what most would (I did for a time) consider an attractive man, because of his personality.

How you doin’?
“In past relationships I have found myself literally repulsed by what most would (I did for a time) consider an attractive man, because of his personality.”
That’s odd. I didn’t realize we had met before.
Luckily for me I based that description on my boyfriend.

Good save! Bonus points if you had said something to the effect that it was what you have been looking for forever and get the BF to see it “by accident.”

Ha! One thing I left off the list, but perhaps should have included is being “secure”. If he accidentally saw it he’d probably say “good luck finding all that”. Actually he’s a little too non-jealous, if there can be such a thing.

Men haven’t got a clue as to what women really want. But then women have got a clue about what they want either. ![]()
At least we know what we don’t want ![]()
