Good guy with a, um, rope

Wyoming can be it’s own little world in many ways.

I can imagine that’s a hell of a wreck to hit a swingset running full speed in the dark.

My wife grew up in WY and said during gym the rancher kids would lasso unfortunates and hang them upside down from the baskeball hoops.

Which begs the question of where the lassos came from, which I’ve never thought of asking until now.

LOL. I copied that before reading the replies and was going to post it because I thought it was a great line.

If you want to make your home a bit safer, put up swingsets near all the entrances.

That is honestly a great piece of writing!

Makes me yearn for the local reporter who used to do similar write ups of the police report every week. (He was also the high school sports reporter - and coached us in soccer when I was in grade school; originally from Scotland - great guy!)

He retired probably a decade ago now. His writing is sorely missed, so thank you for this gem!

“During the foot pursuit, an officer was momentarily sidelined after an unexpected encounter with playground equipment—proving once again that swingsets remain undefeated in low-light conditions.

As the suspect continued to flee, a nearby civilian observed the situation and, demonstrating calm judgment (and impressive hand-eye coordination), used a rope to lasso and safely restrain the suspect until officers arrived. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The involved officer was evaluated for minor injuries and has since been released. No civilians were injured, and the swingset has been cleared of suspicion.

*Law enforcement officials commend the civilian for their assistance while reminding the public that the safest way to help is to be a good witness and follow officers’ directions. While lasso skills are not required, they are apparently not discouraged.”

Well written indeed.*
