Good charcoal grill?

After 15 years my bar-b-chef Texas grill is meeting its maker this year. Too much rust and its just literally falling apart. I’ve reweld ed everything I can reweld and repainted it twice. It is time to move on.

So, does anyone have recommendations for a quality charcoal grill? Or other non gas (pellet?) variety.

I’m looking for something that I can reasonably expect to last another 15 years. Not the typical big box store items.

I generally prefer a rectangular grill surface versus the weber kettle style.

General budget is in the $500 range.

I know you said rectangular, but my egg (I went with Vision brand to keep within budget) is the best grill Ive ever had. Gets hot! So I’d say get whatever ceramic egg you can afford.

My weber has lasted 12 years so far and I haven’t welded anything yet. Give in to the kettle grill… I’ve learned how to smoke stuff and everything. I’m clueless as to why people pay more than $100 for a grill.

I’ve had a kettle. I just don’t like the round. I don’t find that it works well for many types of food… Lots of wasted surface area.

I have a separate smoker, with full unattended wifi/smartphone temp control and monitoring… so that’s not an issue. This is strictly for grilling.

Some great reviews on this website. Lots of great tips and recipes too.

.

I scooped up a cast off Weber off the curb some 15 years ago and it’s atill working fine.

I 2nd the Vision kamodo. Costco carries them for I think $599 including a good assortment of accessories.

It really depends on whether you are a casual or occasional griller or if you want to take it to the next level. If occasional, a Weber kettle is hard to beat.
