Good Basic Multi-Vitamin Reccs

I’m looking for recommendations for a good basic multivitamin to cover all my bases. I know, I know, eat healthy, blah, blah…and yeah, I’ll probably piss most of it out. But even still, let me know what you’re taking. I’d pay a couple of bucks a month for the placebo effect. Thanks.

One-A-Day Active Formula which has extra energy vitamins and minerals.

I’d also recommend Omega 3’s.

Go with the GNC mega men. Very reasonably priced.

Couple years ago, the college son of a family friend, did a class experiment regarding multi vitamins. I cannot remember all they tested, but, the primary test was to determine how much of the actual multi vitamin was absorbed by the body and how much stay intact with the fillers. The GNC mega men had one of the highest absorbency rates.

Children’s chewables.

Centrum liquid
.

+1 on the Omega-3’s. One of the most beneficial supplements you can put into your body.

Does it matter the source of the Omega-3s (i.e. fish, flax, etc.)?

Centrum Silver for this 57 year old guy. When testing was done on miltivitamins, Centrum always comes out very good. Their advertised strengths of vitamins etc. are very accurate. Many generics are not.

Amen on the Omega’s ! I do the fish oil.

I take Centrium with the extra B’s. Did the Mega Man…who said the price was reasonable? Personally I find $20/month excessive for a supplment that may or may not be beneficial…depending on the lastest report. (Multi V’s in general)

How about a balanced diet?

I already acknowledged that: “I know, I know, eat healthy”.

The best multi-v is by Isotonix. It has the best absorption rate of any oral supplement ever made.

GNC mega men has 0% absorption rate. It’s cheep because it doesn’t work. I don’t know where you are getting your info from but it’s a very poor multi. One a day is better.

Omega 3 are a very good choice. I’d say take them if the form of fish oil blended with an omega 6 or in the form of ground flax meal.

+1 on the kids vitamins! I get the store brand and take 2 of them… they are somewhat flavored

Stay away from kids multi-v. Artificial sweeteners bad for you, plus the absorption rate of most are low.

Every day I take 3 glucosamine from Trader Joes, TJs brand multivitamin chewable, and fish oil. I take them at night and spread the glucosamine out during the day. An ultra running friend suggested that besides the health benefits of the fish oil, its has anti inflammaroty properties, so I take 2 on long days. I have been doing this for over 6 months and though there are probably other factors as well, I average btwn 50-high 60mpw running in north east, have not been injured or sick this winter. Something is working!
Hope I did not just jinx myself!

From Source Naturals, the mens Life Force multi vite. This is the ultimate multi vite. I wish I was still taking it. It’s kind of expensive.

I really like Alive multivitamins. They have them at Whole Foods and Central Market and can also be found online.
