Going to FL. for 2-3 weeks. What bike to bring?

Im heading to down to Florida next week for a while and plan to do a big riding block. will be doing several long sessions. I have been riding my trainer exclusively since mid Dec. and alternating between my soloist (road set-up)for shorter sessions and my P2c for longer, i.e. no longer than 2.5-3 hours…thats all I can mentally tolerate on the trainer. I am currently debating what bike to bring? I am leaning towards my tri bike because the focus will be longer sessions and because Florida is so flat being in my aeros, or having the option of being on the aeros will be nice. Any suggestions to help me “flip-the-coin” would be appreciated.

Where in Florida? Clermont is hilly, S. Florida is flat. Either way, bring the tribike.

Vero Beach- mid-east coast. Anyone on here live there and want to ride?

I have the same decision when I visit my folks in SW FL. I usually take my tri bike. It is pancake flat and I like to use that opportunity to get in longer, consistent rides in the aerobars.

When I’ve ridden my road bike there it’s just not as rewarding.

Vero Beach, Nice!
I stay with relatives there every winter for a week of riding.
Let me know if you need some good routes.

You mean aside from north on A1A…or south on A1A. HAHAHA!
yeah I love Vero. There are some variations on routes but usually just head north to Melbourne and back…throw in the Wabasso bridge for some elevation, but let me know if there is stuff I am missing!

A1A is really good.
Also, taking the 512 to the 60, and over to yeehaw junction is great now that construction is finished.
Once on 60 you have almost 6’ of smooth new pavement shoulder to ride on.
We normally ride from Bradenton to Vero on christmas day(no traffic) and have a great route, but I’m not sure if it’d be good on a regular day.

Ive often been curious about heading out that direction…but always been nervous getting out west of 95 from the beach with all of the traffic and commercial stuff on my bike…maybe drive out to the outlets and park, then head out from there?

Your gnarly 40-pound DH bike with 8" of travel!

No I didn’t read the post, just the subject.

nice! wish I still had one of those!

Yee-haw to Vero is not bad regardless of the time of year. Mostly remote between the T-Pike and I-95. pretty much the same till you get into the heart of Polk County. Bring the TT

Since there is so much traffic, lights galore (near the coast), and pancake flat, I’d bring my cyclocross bike, avoid the roads and make a tougher workout on some golf course or the devil strips

Seriously, I hate biking in FL when visiting my folks - awful. GREAT running though this time of year!

I’m from Vero, but in Orlando now. AIA north is perfectly flat and has hardly any lights/stops. Get in the tri-bars and hammer it!
