I currently wear Blue Seventy goggles which I love but they leave me with terrible raccoon eyes. I typically swim at lunch at work but given the state of the economy and the fact that I work in the auto industry, it’s probably not a good time to draw attention to the fact that I am spending my lunch away from the office and not at my desk. Any suggestions for goggles that don’t leave marks or are there tricks to get the raccoon eyes to go away faster?
I have worn Swedes for decades and never had any real problems. Once adjusted, they fit well and stay on with minimal amount of strap tension.
I’ve tried several including Aqua Sphere Vista googles/mask.
The most comfortable, longest lasting, economical google I have found are Swedes. And there are no racoon eyes.
+1 for swedish goggles.
they also look bad ass - and we all know that looks are what’s most important.

Swedes or swede-ish goggles. I prefer the Tyr Socket Rocket 2.0s…they are about $7.
Have you tried just loosening the straps? Goggles should need to be that tight that they’re leaving marks on your face. If you’re finding that your goggles are leaking if you don’t have them super tight on your head, you might want to play around with another brand or such to see if something else might fit you a little better.
I had the same issue- barracuda’s did the trick-very comfortable and absolutely no marks. Only downside is they are pretty dorky looking…
Maybe something along these lines?

Does it come with an outboard motor?

Ill have to recommend swedes as well. Ive swum my whole life and its all ive worn
surprised a joke connecting auto industry and “out to lunch” hasn’t been posted yet.
here’s hoping Detroit can navigate this tricky time…
by the way, I wear a seal xp mask in the pool and don’t usually have marks…
Swedes are good. No rubber and no foam all hard plastic. As mentioned before the strap doesn’t need to be that tight. Just push em into your eyeballs till you cant feel anything.
Barracuda goggles, with their foam liners leave no mark and they are so comfortable that I leave them on my face for the entire 1-1/12 hour swim team practice.
Swedes were unbearably painful and left horrific facial marks on me.
You had your Swedes adjusted WAY too tight.
x2…You had them way to tight or your nose String/Band was pulling your eye pieces too close. I would recommend using the rubber band for the nose piece. I’ve found if the swedes are leaking it is due more to the nose band than it is the stretch of the band around your head. The nose band should have no stretch at all. Using the band vs the string makes it very easy to adjust.
It takes VERY little head band stretch to keep them sealed. Suprisingly Little
no raccoon eyes? you’re missing out. Raccoon eyes, half-deafness from water in your ears that you can’t get out, green tinges in your hair, that nice chlorine smell in your skin, it’s all part of it…
I love the raccoon eyes. If people tell me I look tired I tell them it’s just goggle marks ![]()

.
Goddammit… That’s what I get for not looking through the replies first…
yours is cooler, it’s gold

It’s actually polished brass, but I was going for that authentic look rather than something that would undoubtedly be far more practical.
Another tip for the OP is to swim as fast as TC. You’d get your workout done in half the time, thus less time for the raccoon eyes to settle in. ![]()
