Glucosamine/Chondroitin wiht MSM,Does it help?

Does anyone use MSM daily? Can you feel a difference? Dosage: regular , double ,triple strength? Take 3 pills at one time? or spread out breakfast, lunch and dinner Should you take it all the time or just when you do longer distance training and racing?

Have been taking Osteo Bi-Flex with MSM daily for past year. I use the triple strength and take one in the morning and one at night.
Does it help? I sure hope so, it’s not that cheap. I think it does but no way for me to know for sure.

I have been taking 2 of those darn large pills for years every morning. As was stated, not cheap. But, everything I have read said
it does not seem to hurt ya, but not clear if it helps either. But, will continue to take the chance it might help.

I don’t think so. I quit using it.

Works for 70-75% of the people that take it, but it can take up to 4 months for it to make a difference. You can not judge the results by just taking it for a week or two.

On a side note, my mother had to have knee surgery at the age of 48 and I had her start taking Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, prior to the surgery and the othopedist told her within a few months that he had never seen anyone her age recover so quickly from that surgery, was it the supplements? I do not know, but they probably did not hurt.

Most of what I have read indicates that it does not do any good or harm. However, a few years ago I gave it to my old arthritic Lab and he seemed to get around noticeably better within a week of starting the regimen. Take that for whatever it is worth.

Several years ago I tried Schiff Move Free for achy knees. After using it for a year I didn’t feel any difference so I stopped using it. Then my knees started feeling better. Haven’t used it the last two years and my knees feel great again at the age of 56.

I first screwed up my knee playing college FB (ACL, MCL, PCL, and Meniscus). I had reconstructive on that, tore the ACL again, had another surgery; after that I’ve had two meniscal repair surgeries on the same knee.

I use Glucosamine Chondroitin everyday. I take two pills a day (Each pill has 750 mg of Gluc. and 600 mg of Chondroitin), one at breakfast and one at lunch. I drink a lot of water with each dose.

I have stage 2 arthritis in my left knee, and I think it helps a ton. I was very skeptical when somebody first suggested the stuff to me, but research showed I had nothing to lose and someone gave me enough to try it. You need to give it at least a few weeks to make a difference, IMO.

I say take it all the time because if it’s doing “what it’s supposed to do”, it’s going to slow/lessen the onset of arthritis. Just my $0.02

I began taking it about three weeks ago, and I can definately tell the difference, but I was always suffereing from joint pain and stiffnes.

If glucosamine/chondroitin is going to work for you it will take a minimum of 6 weeks. Any effect noticed within 3 weeks would have to be a placebo effect.

I have been taking it off and on for several years. It seems to help and is the only supplement that I take. My understanding is that the scientific literature supporting its use on animals such as dogs is pretty strong.

I had my left knee reconstructed at 19 and the right at 30 and have had 8 surgeries total on both knees. I used a variety of MSM/Chondroitin/Glucosamine remedies for years and did not see any benefits. I think that strengthening the supporting muscles around the knee area have been the most beneficial thing I’ve done and have not any issues since I quit taking the supplements over 3 years ago. Just my .02

I agree that it did not start working right away, and there will hopefully be more improvement, but there is a difference
.

I tried Glucosamine/Chondroitin/MSM for several years with no apreciable results. I stopped taking it this season and started taking fish oil capsules. I’m experiencing less knee pain than in years past.

I’ve read reports that say it doesn’t work BUT… it works for me. I stopped taking it over the summer because I kind of took a couple months off of any heavy training, when I started running again my knees and hips were killing me. I started again with the Glucosamine and it went away in a few weeks. I have been taking Glucosamine for a few years. I have recommended it to a few people and I would say it has helped about 70 percent of the people I have told about it.
Once guy at work I told about it gave it to his old arthitic dog and he said his dog hasn’t gotten around better in years after a couple weeks of taking glucosamine.

I’ve been taking the MSM/Glucosamine from NutriSense for over five years. I’m a few months shy of 39 and have been active running/cycling/MTB’ing all of my life. I carry a few extra pounds but my knees feel great and I have zero issues. I’m about to start upping my run mileage this year because I miss going long and my knees are the last thing on my mind.

I take the regular dosage of 3 per day spread out with meals.

I’ve had a buldged disc in my neck since 2005…Glucosamine has definitely helped me in the past few months. I can definitely feel the difference when I don’t take it…

Placebo or not…it works for me.

I have been taking it off and on for several years. It seems to help and is the only supplement that I take. My understanding is that the scientific literature supporting its use on animals such as dogs is pretty strong.

It works great in dogs! My understanding is that in humans it only works well in people with serious joint damage. But I take it anyway…

You do know your trainer madness ride from yesterday doesn’t count toward the challenge, right? I’ve been tapering for a few weeks for this trainer challenge…ie 3 rides in last 21 days

Yeah, but my ride tomorrow does!

I am just about to get ready for my last ride OUTSIDE! It’s turning nasty here soon so I need to suck the life out of this beautiful day.

I take msm/glucosamine pill, 2 pills e/d at the same time with a multi-v and i think it works great. Its a pretty cheap supplement.
