Only if you develop a craving for squats
Seems like this topic has strayed a lot from the title, and more about what people here deem acceptable for the general public…. Kind of pathetic.
In what way is it “pathetic,” exactly?
Threads tend to drift away from the Title from time to time; that’s how Conversations work
“Wait? What we were talking about again?”
YMMV
The drift isn’t pathetic, the opinions and judging of other people are. But carry on.
What’s wrong with opinions and judgement?
I think it’s perfectly acceptable to judge people for taking this stuff, all while acknowledging it’s their choice. It’s just human nature.
Is there a pathetic-judging exception for those who judge others judging as pathetic?
Pathetic to judge reckless use of expensive drugs with side effects for cosmetic or athletic gain? But what if the compulsion to make such judgment is no less compulsive than urge to eat without restraint? Indeed anyone who has raised hens, knows how when you put them in groups they can’t resist pecking at each other’s flaws. Why is that compulsion any more pathetic than the one that literally wants to have their cake and athletic body too? Both are giving into animal instincts are they not?
I’m much more receptive to pleas for compassion and understanding that I am to people who wildly misunderstand human nature while presuming to judge which failings are better than others but have massive beams in their own eyes that miss we all have failings.
So yes, we’re all pathetic. If we just admit that up front and get on with the conversation that’s good ![]()
A clinic like this would give it to you: Viking Alternative Medicine - YouTube
All under the guise of health / longevity / quality of life.
I would love to see the union of the groups who take the glp 1s and those who opposed the Covid “jab” only thinking of themselves
Can you please explain yourself? No studies show that the covid jab helped antibody beyond those taking it. Furthermore, it was not even designed to prevent the spreading of covid.
This is an excellent typo.
Also, please enlighten us more regarding contagion, vaccination, and public health. Do you know some things? Don’t hold back…
This also forks the convo from the OP, which questions if GLP-1s are PEDs, right?
Maybe someone can start telling influencers that vaccinations are a vo2 max hack.
But alas, the opposite is true…
47.3ml/kg/min…recreational athlete indeed.
“The clinical impact hereof needs to be further determined.”
“…in spite of the remaining uncertainties regarding the implications of the observed decrease in VO2 max in our study, we would suggest (if epidemiologically justifiable) scheduling BNT162b2 mRNA booster vaccination outside major competition periods, until more data have been obtained on the effect of (booster) vaccination on (higher level) athletic performance.”
What was the follow-up study indicating return to pre-vaccination level?
Just pop some semaglutide to counteract the ‘rona vax.
Retail pharmacist here, so deal with these meds on a daily basis. Wegovy and Zepbound are approved for weight loss AS AN ADJUNCT TO DIET AND EXERCISE, ie, you need stop eating crap and get your ass to the gym or do some cardio. In my opinion insurance companies should require patients and prescribers provide proof that they eating healthy and exercising before they cover these medications as a last resort. Will it ever happen, doubtful. Most people are inherently lazy and don’t want to take accountability for their actions, they want the easy way out.
And yes, Pharma has NO incentive to find a cure for obesity, because it’s one and done. They want you to have to pay $$$ for the rest of your life.
Sorry, but proof is showing you if you’re on those meds, the large majority of people who tolerate it lose a lot of weight, no exercise required. That’s why they are popular.
Exercise is great for quality of life, and even weight loss, but let’s not make it more than it is when it comes to their role in weight loss with regard to the GLP-1s.
Have to agree here, know of many, many non athletic folks just taking the drugs, not chainging diet, but losing massive amount of weight. What they do is eat less of the crap food, well under the daily requirement, and thus just lose weight. It just kills their appetites, eating like 1/5 of what they used to..
Now it would be nice if it was doubled with exercise and good food, but certainly doesn’t have to be to lose weight..
New research today, another foreseeable but unintended benefit will be reduction in knee replacements and other ortho issues
I don’t want to speak for @JackStraw13 but I think his point is the medicine (wegovy and zepbound specifically) is recommended to be taken ALONG with diet and exercise by the drug companies (and approved by the fda). These drugs have never been advertised by pharma to be taken as a standalone treatment.
Not doubting the research and countless experiences that shows you don’t need to exercise or eat healthy.
(My wife works in pharma and was once a retail pharmacist)
The people, or the drugs?
Yes, that was exactly my point. There is no doubt they work alone, but would be more effective with a healthy, well balanced diet and daily exercise.
I’m just so tired of people using medication as a crutch instead of making lifestyle changes that would truly improve their health and change their life for the better. I see it day in day out.
Not to mention all the insurance fraud that is happening because prescribers are using Mounjaro and Ozempic for weight loss and submitting false ICD-10 codes for diabetes, but that’s a story for another day.
