is there anyone here who feels represented by his view? how can oklahomans actually re-elect this guy? anyone? at least boxer is taking over. talk about a 180, she’s practically ready to cap co2 emissions already.
It’s amazing that there are people on this planet who can believe that all the polution humans have created in the last 150 years or so has no effect on the planet.
Off hand I can’t. But if no one knows if its 1% or 50% man made then why all the concern that in 10 years there will be a diaster caused by man made global warming (wasn’t that from Gore recently)?
no one, except the producers from the day after tomorrow is being so alarmist as to say the MAIN concern is a man made disaster caused by global warming within my life time. The VAST majority of climate scientists (the only people worth listening to with what’s going to happen to our climate) argue only that greenhouse gases are increasing, and by examining several sources of evidence infer that there is a correlation between the earth’s temperature and the level of co2 in the air. this makes sense because of the way co2 vibrates as a molecule and traps longwave radiation, thus making it a ‘greenhouse gas’.
what could happen? bunch of stuff. when will this stuff happen? nobody knows for sure, but we can set our best minds with the most experience in climate science to take an educated guess. That educated guess is that the more co2 we put into the atmosphere, the warmer it’s going to get. if we want to stop that, we should decrease the amount of co2 we’re putting into the atmosphere. read the IPCC report if you want to.
same argument BILLIONS of people use every day when investing. Does does head equity researcher at any wall street investment bank know exactly where the stock market will be in 1 month, or 10 years for that matter? no effin way, nobody claims to. But trillions of dollars are invested based on what equity researchers think. same argument…
sure, plenty of wackos say that the ocean conveyor belt transferring heat from the equator to the higher latitudes is going to stop next year and cause an ice age in europe. could it? sure. it’s happened before in the younger dryas. Is it worth worrying about? probably not, i’ll probably spend a night with angelina jolie before it does.
