The visor on my Aerohead developed a small crack right above the nose. I put a small piece of electrical tape over it, and it worked fine for a few races. Yesterday’s race was windy, and the helmet fell off my aerobars before getting back to the bike in T1 and the visor split in half - obviously did the ride without the visor. Has anyone had a visor replaced by Giro free of charge? Seems a little like a defect to split in half.
Contact Giro. They will prob send u one free and sell u a case for $50 if u want. That’s what they did for me
They might send you one… I’d be surprised though. Maybe if it’s one of the early helmets (the visors were updated on later variants to not dig into the cheeks)
At least it’s better than Kask… they’d probably send you a verbal scolding and a bill for breaking their visor.
I have a similar crack in my visor. It has held in for over one year but I know sooner or later I will have to replace it. I am interested in how many others are having similar problems.
I was pulling mine off the helmet before a race last year and it cracked right in half. Haven’t used the helmet since
They sent me one. Free. No questions asked.

I just sent an email to customer service. Mine was probably on the earlier side - manufacture date of 04/2016. We’ll see what the response is.
I’ve had two visors snap or crack the exact same way, basically one a season. I just bought a replacement after the first broke …but I’ll probably shoot them an email and see if they are willing to help me out this time around. If not when this visor goes, I’m just going to replace the helmet, cuz new is always better, right?
Mine cracked there when i quickly pulled the visor off when a bee got in there during a TT.
I emailed them about a replacement, and was told you can buy them off the website or from a dealer, but i’ve just been using it with the crack. Its right up the middle and isn’t too distracting so i’ll wait til it lets go completely before replacing.
(edit: I am curious about those that have mentioned free replacements though. I might have to send another email, probably depends who you talk to)
Holy smokes! Exact same thing happened to me this weekend at a TT. Heard a snap and saw a crack above the nose piece.
I have a replacement visor on the way free of charge. Not sure if it was good luck or that my helmet was one of the original ones, manufactured in early 2016.
I have cracked 4 visors, two of the tinted ones and two of the clear ones. They have replaced all of them, which I think is great service. Mine have been cracking in transit inside the case, and I have been very careful transporting the helmet. I think they are just really fragile. Unfortunately, my tinted one is starting to develop another crack.
Mine cracked right by the nose just from being taken off. I did the same with the electrical tape but ultimately it snapped. I called Giro and they told me to buy a new one (which they did sell me). But they only had clear and did not have an estimate when the shaded ones would come in. This was last year so I do hope their supply is better now.
Mine cracked, it was out of stock for a couple of months. I think it was around Sep-Oct last year and paid $65 for the visor and shipping. Quality sucks because it cracks so easily, not available soon and their customer service sucks because it’s not consistent. Why did I have to pay for mine and some people don’t???

I actually have an extra shaded lens. If anyone wants it, PM me.
I warmed up in the rain and, when I stopped, I shook the visor to clear the droplets. It snapped in two. Fortunately, I had my tinted visor in my car at the race.
I contacted Giro and, because I had another race the next Saturday (4 days after my email) they FedEx’d a new visor, free of charge.
Anyone happen to know if they are size specific?

Yes size specific.
I’ve had a extremely positive response from Giro as well. My visor split while I was riding when I reached under it to clear some sweat in my eyes. One minute it was on, and the next minute - poof - split and blow into the weeks next to the road.
I called them on July 22, primary as a result of this thread, and on July 25 I had a new one delivered to me in my hands ready for weekend training.
THANK YOU GIRO, for such amazing customer service.

I emailed Giro today and let’s see. Original one cracked, bought new one and it cracked too, so I need another one.
