GIRO Aerohead MIPS - How do you travel with this helmet?

Simple question, how do you travel with this helmet? Seems too easy to crack this visor if mishandled or not packed securely. Is there a helmet pod/case or anything else that would enable this to be carried easily? I’m looking to go to Europe this summer from US and don’t want to show up with a cracked visor.

Thanks!!!

I made my first two trips with it this month, one overseas (3 flight legs each way) and one in the US (one flight leg each way). I simply flipped the visor over the helmet, put it a soft helmet bag (like a small pillowcase) and shoved it down the backpack I carried on.

Note: I typically carry all my key race gear on my person in the event my luggage is lost (helmet, bike and race shoes, tri-suit, and goggles) It would be overkill except for those people I know who wish they had done it.

The helmet comes in a hard case that holds the helmet and two visors. Takes up a lot of space…

Only the Ultimate comes with a case and probably 95-99% of buyers are getting the cheaper version, if only for the vents.

thanks guys. you only get the case/pod with the “ULTIMATE”, not the cheaper priced ones. GIRO Says that pod is backordered until late June.

Sounds like might be time to custom make something.

In a soft bag in my carry on. The visor is magnetic so if something hits it, it’s just comes off. On my last trip I accidentally leaned on it, and the visor just fell off into the helmet. With other designs I think something would have snapped.

I also flip the visor up and otherwise I just pack the helmet in my duffel bag with soft stuff (wetsuit, t-shirts, shorts, socks, etc).

That’s my plan next week for flying to St.G. I wish there was a hard case (I mean, I wish I had one) so I could just include it in the bag I’m sending with TBT (they specifically say not to put helmets in without a hard case, probably means they throw the bags around a fair bit).
