does anyone have experience with these helmets?
if so, what were your impressions of the Kask as compared to the Giro?
i have tried on the Aeon, but don’t have access to a Vertigo i can try on.
the only reason i am considering the Kask is because i have heard from several people that it is the most comfortable helmet on the market; but i would really like to hear the opinions of the ST crowd rather than those of people trying to sell me something…
for what it’s worth i’m coming from a Lazer Helium.
I went with the Kask Vertigo after breaking my Lazer Helium. For me it is very comfortable but we are all different.
The Kask sits snug on my head and the straps sits nice and flat. The adjuster on the rear also makes the helmet feel very secure as the Lazer floats a little more (by design). Cooling may have been better with the Lazer but it is hard to tell. Can’t comment on the newest Giro helmets other then they seem very light but not as comfortable when trying them on.
will do.
the main reason i went with the Vertigo was the claimed comfort level.
although it’s ~80 g heavier than the Aeon, comfort is more important to me.
just wanted to reply to this thread after about a month of riding in the Vertigo.
in short: the Vertigo is without doubt the most comfortable helmet i’ve ever put on.
i came from a Lazer Helium. i’ve ridden in the Rudy Project Sterling and the Bell Gage.
the adjustability of this helmet and the ease with which it can be adjusted is astounding.
for those who aren’t familiar, the rear part of the retention system can be moved vertically as well as tightened.
the Vertigo is slightly heavier than other high-end helmets, but what you lose (or gain, i guess) in the weight department, you definitely gain in comfort.
it is pricey. but, if you are considering other high-end helmets, the difference in price shouldn’t be much of an issue.
so, if any of you are considering a Kask i can definitely recommend.
i use the aeon. while i wouldn’t say it’s the most comfortable helmet in the world when i first put it on, discussing the comfort level of it is sort of a moot point - it’s so damn light i forget it’s there within a few minutes of riding.
