Giant Propel

do many people on here own one? whats everyones opinion on this bike?

I have the “lower end” Ultegra 11 speed mechanical…and it is awesome. I love it, and the paint scheme is great and looks fast.

I know a few folks who have them (various builds/models). All seem to really love them, and they look great.
Great road bike, and if you were trying to find a road bike to also use as a tri bike, I think it would be a good competitor to the Cervelo S5.

I have one. Like the user below I have also converted it to a TT/Tri bike and I have had faster times than I did on my previous P3 with the power output being very close. The bike is awesome. It is very stiff but I don’t feel as though it is so stiff that it makes for an uncomfortable ride. I am able to climb very well on it as well, and it looks great in matte carbon and black.

The TT conversion was very simple, and I have switched back and forth several times between road and TT configuration depending on the time of season and what is going on. I swapped out the BB86 bottom bracket for the SRAM GXP version of BB86 so I could run a Quarq but otherwise the rest of the bike is Dura Ace 9000.

Unfortunately I have a debilitating knee injury and can no longer race. I can barely ride so it is for sale. Size M http://www.pinkbike.com/buysell/1632447/

Ya, picked up a 2014 Advanced 2 (black) just as the 2015’s were coming in - so saved a bundle. Intent was to replace my TT bike (2013 P2 51cm, available, PM me), I just need to pickup the giant aerobar clip ons. I don’t see myself doing longer than Oly’s these days, so this is a great all-rounder. Love it, stiff, quick, fits great, looks stealth.

I’ve owned 2 of them. First one was a 2014 SL 0 Advanced with 9070 Dura Ace Di2. Absolutely loved it. Great all around bike. Stiff, light, aero, climbed better than any bike I owned before. When it was setup with 404s it was 15.3 pounds for a medium-large. Unfortunately, the drive-side seat-stay cracked when flying back from a race. So my second Propel was the 2015 SL 0 frameset built up with all of the parts from the other propel except for the brakes. The 2015 frame rides rides great. The only difference I’ve noticed is there is no longer an option to mount the Di2 battery on the chain-stay, so you have to run an internal battery. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on the 2015 paint scheme for the frameset, even from people who don’t do cycling or triathlon. The only criticism I have of the propel is that the stock brakes on the 2014 were absolutely terribly. The 2015 brakes though are excellent, especially for aero brakes.

If the propel fits you, then it is an excellent bike.

I friend of mine has just purchased one. Only thing I don’t are the giant clip on bars which have a huge stack height on them. I am not sure if there is an alternative option for clip on bars to get the front end lower and look a bit less dorky ?

The Propel’s are nice. I opted for a Defy just because it’s more of an all around bike that allows me to aggresively climb, descend, due centuries, mess around with friends, etc and feel comfortable.

But I think anything like the Defy, Propel, or TCR will suit you well if you buy it for the reason that suits your needs.

can i ask if the toptube is perfectly horizontal, like the bmc tmr?

i cant seem to see in the pictures. some has it horizontal, some with a slight slope.
