Giant Propel - 25mm Tires?

I have googled this to death and am not getting much definitive information. Does anyone with the Giant Propel have experience as to whether this bike can fit 25mm tires with the stock brakeset (second gen SpeedControl SL Ti). All the pro bikes pictured are running 25’s but with the aftermarket brakeset. The frame itself looks to have enough room but I am concerned a little with the brake cable.

EDIT: went back to weight weenies and I misremembered, the 25s don’t clear from some first hand experience of people there. The Fourier brakes allow for use of 25mm michelins though, which are more like 26-27mm.

It can be done, although a tight squeeze - have on occasion run my wheels on the other half’s Propel with the stock brakes and apart from a slight adjustment has been fine. (I run the Fouriers and have had no issues, nor any issues with frame rub).

Can depend on what wheelset you run also - have seen some forum posts mentioning this.

Can you share what combinations have worked for you?

DA C50 Clinchers with both Schwalbe Ones and I think at one stage I had GP4000 25s on her Zipp 60s on it.

Sounds like the only way to know for sure is to try it out.

Any other advantages to the Fourier brakes besides the clearance? The stock brakes (now) are not lacking for power or modulation even on carbon rims.

If you’re happy with the brakes, then probably not. But then I guess it’s one of those things that until you have them it’s probably hard to know given how individual we all are.

yup they fit currently running 25mm gp4000s on my propel with no problems

The Giant-Alpecin World Tour team equips both the Propel Advanced SL and Defy Advanced SL with 25mm tubulars so I think the answer depend on which generation/model Propel.

2014 Propel… fits Conti GP 4000s 25’s on all sorts of wheels (Zipp, BOYD, easton, etc…). Definitely a tight clearance with the frame but has been no problem
