Getting your bike to St. Croix 70.3

I am considering doing St Croix 70.3 next year

My main challenge is bike transport from Canada…we will be vacationing in St Maarten the week before the race and I would rather not take my bike there then to St Croix.

What options do I have to get my bike directly to St Croix…can I do BikeTransport from Toronto somewhere or am I stuck with taking the bike to St Maarten and then St Croix.
Thanks,
Andrew

Skip the vacation the week before and do the vacation the week after. Fly from YYZ to Miami to STX on American. You’ll be on jets all the way…if you fly through San Juan, you’ll be doing turboprop on the final leg and the chances of your bike making it with you are pretty minimal and you’ll have to wait a day or more to get it.

I second Dev’s post on the vacation after. We have never found it a good idea to try and vacation the week before a race. Not unless your family’s idea of a vacation is hanging out waiting for you to get your training in.

Logistics with traveling with the bike sound tough, unless you break it bike down into a smaller case and the wheels separately. It will be two pieces of luggage instead of one, and you may not (emphasize may) get charged a bike fee. The real advantage is there will be no conflict with the bike not getting on the plane with you if it is not oversized.

You may be able to force a connection through MIA (Miami). There is a non-stop jet to St Croix flight out of there. Better chance the bike will make it on your flight.

Dev, are you going next year?
