Getting the drugs out of my system

Long story short, I am an otherwise healthy, active 43 y/o who came down with sudden, idiopathic sensorineural hearing loss in one ear. My otolaryngologist prescribed a 3 week, tapering cycle of prednisone 60 mg, 40 mg, 20 mg. I took the last 20 mg dose of predinose this morning, so I’m done taking the prednisone. Two weeks ago, and then again today, she gave me a transtympanic injection of a 4 mg/ml dexamethasone sodium phosphate solution. Assuming today was the last injection of the dexamethasone, how long should I expect it take for all of this stuff to get out of my system, and then for my body to get back to normal? To be clear, I’m not asking about my hearing, just about clearing this stuff out of my system.

Second that they are planning to put on the 70.3 for Sunday. This is also the right call given the 500+ first time racers.

With that said, we’re planning to swim from the yacht club at 8:00 AM tomorrow if anyone’s interested - nothing like 6 ft swells…

Prednisone clears your system quickly, but how quickly I’m not sure. It has a short 1/2 life. Did you gain much weight or get a ‘puffy’ looking face? Nasty side effects.

Dextramethasone however doesn’t. It has a 36-56 hour half life so it will be at least a week to two weeks. It depends on the dosage though, since it will get to a biologically negligible level quicker if it was a lower dose.

Actually just the opposite was true with respect to weight gain - I lost about a pound because I’ve had three weeks of really good s, b, and r training. No puffy face either.

I think it was a 20ml vial, but how much dexamethasone was actually injected, I don’t know.

Bump for the Sunday crowd.
