Getting Lower on My Tri Bike

I’ve maxed out my bike about as aggressive as it’ll get, but the only thing that’s preventing me from getting the aggressive position I want is that my headset has a large 15mm cone spacer/dust cap or whatever you call it. Is it just a matter of buying a new dust cap or would I have to switch out the headset?

Profile Aris makes stems in the -25 to -40 range as does Bontrager. If you want to you can get way lower. My p3 had a -40 on it, looks goofy, rode just fine.

Cobb cycling offers a 5mm version. Check out their site. I just bought one myself. Only drawback is it’s not carbon… :frowning:

Could you post a picture of what a -40 looks like on your bike?

And also does the cobb dust cap fit FSA headsets?

You’d have to call / email Cobb.

The cobb cap should fit most internal headsets.

You can get a 5 or 10mm dust cap pretty cheap. I got one from ebay.

I hadn’t had a dust cap on my P2 for a few years, it works just fine without one. You do have to pay attention to the headset though.

The Cobb dust cap fit decently on my 2009 P2 so it’ll probably fit the older P3

as mention in this thread, i have also position some athletes with no dust cap and a flexible rubber washer instead. That drop a additional 6mm to 10mm from any caps.

It just mean a little more cleaning and checking up of the headset once in awhile but i rode for years that way with no issue.
