Getting inked

ok…i dont want to hear about the whole “corporate logo bullshit”…

i just need an opinion…

IMC logo…

i cant decide between shoulderblade or ankle…

keeping it small, red inside, black leaf…

any suggestions?

not much to add. i agree with matt about the ankle and the reasons. for what it’s worth, when (if) i’ll be getting mine, it’ll be on my ankle.

Ankle.

Brett

hmm…its amazing to see how different groups of people react when this questions is posed…everyone else ive talked to (non-triathletes) responded upperback (middle of shoulderblades)

all the tri people said ankle…which was my original thought…

i think im going to try the ballpoint pen thing, and decide what i like better, but i definitly agree with the “doing it for your own reasons, not for looks” type attitude…

i want to know its there, not have it to show it off…

I’d go shoulderblade, mostly because I wouldn’t want to draw attention to my skinny ankles
.

I think this goes back to what was discussed before, which is your motivation. Many people who get tattoos do it for display purposes, and others assume that is why you want it, in which case, you get a lot of people telling you that the upper back is badass.

But you’re getting it for more personal reasons, so you should get it where you want it, can enjoy it, will see it, etc.

I have a couple of tattoos on my shoulders, and I never, ever see them. Even in the mirror, I can’t really see them too well, and after 12 years, they look like crap anyway because they were poorly done.

Do yourself a favor; no matter how small, how simple, and how easy the tattoo you are getting is, make sure you go to someone who is competent and whose work you have seen and liked. A poorly done tattoo might look okay now, and in a few months, but after a couple of years it may bleed, fade, and otherwise look terrible. For contrast, I have a tat that is 9 years old on my left arm. It is a fine line portrait of my nephew(who died in 1993) and it looks picture perfect to this day.

Another consideration that many people aren’t aware of is that a tattoo disrupts the sweat glands in the inked area. So a large tattoo on your back may affect your ability to properly radiate heat while training/racing. For your one tat, I doubt it matters, but I love sharing the random factiods rattling around in my caveman brain.

haha, that sweat gland thing is something to take into consideration…

see…and as we discussed…i want to get it for me…not to “look cool”, which is why i may stay away from the lower leg/ankle area, b/c so many have them there already…

im thinking that maybe on the spine, just above where the shoulderblades are may be where i put it…and just hope that i never get back hair :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

if i get it there…its hidden during races…which is kind of what i want

i know its there…and its original…
