Get "stink" off my skin? (chlorine)

I always take a soap shower after swimming. Later in the day, the chlorine starts seeping out of my pores and it reeks. I never feel ar smell clean until a secong shower at home later in the day. Any ideas?

what is with the smell threads today? Did everyone just get over a cold and discover that they do have a fifth sense after all?

Based on the shoes and shirts threads - try drinking vinegar.

i bought a bottle of malibu swim–and it’s a shampoo/shower gel. (a huge bottle for 16.00) i certainly don’t use it on my hair (I cap it anyways), but it’s great for getting the chlorine out/neutralizing the smell of it. any swim shampoo for the hair will do this for you, if used as a shower gel. it’s worth it not to reek. some at the grocery store I’ve seen for 4 or 5 dollars.

You’re screwed. My only suggestion is to start swimming more. At some point you will either stop smelling it either becasue you have gotten used to it or you nuked your olfactory glands. When I was swimming full time I noticed my sense of smell was poor during season which was 48-50 weeks a year so basically I went about 15 years without smelling.

That odor is a badge of honor. Wear it proudly. Soon you will have cholrine green hair and prune hands.

I wondered what was up with the smell threads today too. Hmm.

Anyway, Yeah, I think it’s cool when you smell like the pool. I don;t want girls to smell like that. Girls should smell like girls, not a swimming pool.

But yeah, wear it like a badge of honor.

Don’t forget the raccoon eye goggle marks!!! Nothing like a meeting with finance managers looking like:

You could try dousing yourself with a half pint or so of ‘High Karate’ after shave after swimming…whilst it won’t in and of itself get rid of the chlorine stink it will keep the general public far enough away so they won’t actually be able to smell the chlorine.

only things I ever heard to get that smell out were either a tomato juice bath or rubbing your self all over with poo.

I’d go with the chlorine smell - but hay its your choice ;}

Or not wear goggles and look like you just spent the morning in an opium den.

Nothing starts off your day like having to make the decision of whether to go commando or put the wet speedo back on because you forgot to pack underwear.

I swim at a health club pool… I find a 5 minute steam bath or sauna does the trick. Didn’t have time after today’s lunchtime swim and I definitely smell the difference.

I totally hear you on forgetting the underwear! Many times I have had to go to Meijers (supermarket/everything store in the midwest) after swimming buy one pair of underwear and go directly to the restroom to put them on.

I can never get the smell totally out but a very hot shower opens your pores and then scrub with good soap and a loffah or washcloth. Even with that said I still smell chlorine when I hop on the treadmill at night and start sweating.

What did you wear to get to the pool?

I can never forget something I wear there. I pack my suit, goggles and towel and wear clothing to the pool.

Please tell me you don’t walk to the pool through your neighbourhood in a speedo carrying a towel and a gym bag with your clothes and you wonder why the kids all laugh and point. It isn’t because you are so skinny.

Try taking a shower and washing with baking soda,it neutralizes the chlorine and removes oders, try it when you get any stinky smell on your hands
.

Sounds like too many people want to trade smelling like the pool for smelling like a massengille. Bask in the smell of chlorine!!

I didn’t realize that the kids were laughing at me, but that does explain all the finger pointing.
