There has been much talk about Iran’s ability to manufacture a nuclear weapon and the threat this poses to Israel. I think it’s important to also note that Israel has recently purchased two Dolphin Class subs from Germany, at a reduced rate. These subs can be equiped with nuclear armed cruise missiles and will give Israel the ability to retaliate if Iran, or anyone else, launches a first strike. I know that Israel has never confirmed that they have a nuclear strike capbility but I submit there can be no doubt about it.
I just find this to be an interesting dynamic given Germany’s past history as well as its current relationship with Iran.
Well depends how you define recently. They got the first Dolphin in 1999, and armed with missiles that could carry nukes in 2002
Yeah, I know, I read the article that I linked. Two subs were recently soled to Israel to augment the one sold in 1999. The point is: Israel has a deterrent and because of this Iran is less likely to launch a first strike. Also, everyone, including China and Russia wants Iran to end its enrichment program so there is plenty of support to lean on Iran. Unfortunately, Iran is on the verge of passing a law which would require the expulsion of inspectors if the IAEA refers Iran to the security council.
I thought Iran was getting it’s nuclear development support from Russia. In any cas there’s always Pyonyang. They’re really strapped for $$$.
Anyway two guys pointing loaded guns at each other point blank. You know like in the movies? It has always made me wonder how come in the movies, there’s usually a backing down by someone. In such a situation doesn’t the person who pulls the trigger first have a huge advantage? Can’t exactly dodge bullets and by the time you realize the other guy has fired assuming you ever did, you’d be dead already. If it was me I would squeeze that trigger asap as fast as my finger could twitch.
Given those religious fundamentalists, no logic, suicide bomb, just love to commit terror so they can get to heaven faster mentality of them Muslim fundamentalists; the same types that are choc a bloc in Iran, if they had their finger on the nuclear trigger, do you think it’s a good idea to surmize that they wouldn’t be tempted to squeeze off? Just like my above analogy I reckon it wouldn’t be wise to give them the opportunity in the first place. If we’re stupid enough to let Iran get to the trigger pulling ready stage, we’d better pull the trigger first.
Did you hear the latest in Iran? They were conducting a mock 9/11 type attack and then things went awry and they ended up with an actual plane crash into their populated area.
But the USSR commies are not quite the same as Islamic Fundamentalists. They don’t subscribe to the idea that the more inncocent civillians you kill the faster you get to got to heaven.
Didn’t I just read about the Russians selling the Iranians new surface to air missiles? Just the thing to protect your nuclear facilities from a peksy Israeli air strike.
