Geek squad question

We had a power outage yesterday and now the PC won’t start. It was plugged into a power strip and all the other components that were plugged in are ok except the PC. Is there a reset button somewhere or a fuse/circuit breaker inside? If we did have a surge, what component inside the PC got fried? Power supply?

If it was a surge how can the PC get hurt and not the other components?

Did you check the power strip? Sometimes they have individual resets for various outlets.

replaced it
.

there is no reset button.

if you turn it on there will probably be a small light that comes on at the front of the case and on the mother board. pop off the cover. the fan in the power supply and on the processor should come on.

if they don’t… verify that the powersupply is plugged in and the switch didn’t get turned off. if all is still dead, go here:

to buy new components go here:

how old is the computer? my guess is the MB or PS took a hit. if so, do it yourself and save some $$. post your findings here, please.
